AR(Accelerated Reader) Simple Steps:
1. Pick a book:
a. This book can be any book you want to read that is a chapter book. No
graphic novels.
b. Go to arbookfind.com. Type in your desired book title. If it pops up there
is a quiz for it. If it doesn't, find another book to read for my class.
c. Look at the BL to determine the reading level. The program will not let
you take a test that is below you lowest ZPD score. (Forgot your
ZPD range, come during lunch or after school to get it. Or email me.)
If you followed a-c correctly, you will have the required book for my class.
2. Read the book by the last day of the month!
-You may complete the book before the month is done.
-Also you may take the quiz in the library during lunch or after school once
you have completed the novel.
3. If you get a C or D on the AR quiz, you have until the 15th to re-read the
novel and do the quiz again.
- F grades mean you did not complete the novel for that month.

AR Information
Each quarter, students will choose TWO AR books to read for class. They can find these books in the library -- all are marked on the shelves, or you can look over the lists online at http://www.arbookfind.com. Students choose in book in their reading level that has a AR quiz. Typr book tilte into arbookfind website to see if the book has a test. If the book does not appear on the website, then there is no test for that particular book just yet. Choose another that has a quiz.
You can also check online at http://dusd.k12.ca.us/index2.php?option=com_docman&task=doc_view&gid=3450&Itemid=83 to look at books by reading levels and point scores.
Each quarter, students must take and pass a AR test on that specific book to receive full AR credit. The more you read, the more points you get. Point club members are able to receive raffle tickets to win prizes. Raffle draw is given quarterly. Once you have earned all of your AR credit for a given quarter, you may read a non-AR book, or start your book for next quarter -- just don't take the test until quarter starts!
